De terrestrische korstmosvegetatie van het Kootwijkerzand
R. Ketner-Oostra
4-15

At the initiative of the Dutch State Forest Commission a survey was made of lichen vegetation at Kootwijkerzand, an inland sand dune area at The Veluwe, a huge pleistocene deposit in the eastern central part of The Netherlands. Most of the very poor soil has been planted with pine trees (Pinus sylvestris), but part is heath and part is still active aeolian sand. This part consists of bare drift-sand tracts with sparse grassland on the more stabilized parts, classified as Grey hairgrass community (Corynephorus canecens) with mosses and lichens. Since the nineteen seventies increasing air pollution caused by nearby intensive cattle and poultry farming (0-85 kg N/ha/year) has affected both the woods, the heath area and the lichen-steppe. By means of vegetation-relevés (4 m²) eight types (with subtypes) of moss and lichen vegetation could be described (summation table). Eight permanent plots were laid out and a basic set of soil samples was analysed by a professional laboratory. A programme both for vegetation and soil was proposed, to monitor the expected diminishing animal husbandry air pollution from the nearby “Gelderse Vallei” in the future.
Parmelia borreri (Sm.) Turner in Nederland
J.L. Spier
16-22

The author objects to the Dutch Parmelia borreri (Sm.) Turner, found during the last ten years. After a detailed morphological and chemical study of the Dutch collections from both P. borreri and P. subrudecta Nyl. as well as from foreign material (UV, MCT-GE, TLC-EA, chemical reactions) he points out that the recent Dutch P. borreri does not answer to the descriptions given by the various authors such as Clauzade & Roux (1985), Hale (1965), Poelt (1969), Purvis et al. (1992) and. Wirth (1980). The lower surface of P. borreri should be black, which Hale clearly states: ‘The holotype of Parmelia borreri contains atranorine and gyrophoric acid and has a black underside’. The recent Dutch collections however show a variable colour of the lower surface, a feature shared with P. subrudecta. The possession of gyrophoric acid however does not agree.
Bryologische impressies uit het Sterrengebergte in Portugal
H.C. Greven & H.M.H. van Melick
23-29

The authors visited the Serra da Estrela in Portugal in May 1993. Bryophyte vegetation and flora of this relatively unknown area are briefly discussed. Special attention is paid to epilitic and epiphytic bryophytes. Locaties in dit artikel: Portugal, Sterrengebergte (atlasblok: -)
De lichenologische voorjaarsexcursie van 1993 naar Noord-Brabant, met gegevens over aangrenzend België
P.P.G. van den Boom
30-47

The spring meeting 1993 of the Dutch Bryological and Lichenological Society was based in Chaam, the province Noord-Brabant. Micarea osloensis, a lichen species previously only known from the type locality in Norway has been found. Additional records are provided from other excursions in 1993 and 1994 to areas in the middle of Noord-Brabant and in adjacent areas in northern Belgium. Bacidia saxenii and Micarea misella are reported as new for Belgium. 180 Lichens are recognized and listed below, 176 for the province Noord-Brabant (NL) and 68 for the province Antwerpen (B).
Korstmossen in het Gooi en Eemland (1994)
C.M. van Herk & A. Aptroot
48-57

The lichen flora of Het Gooi and the Eemland region in the central part of the Netherlands was investigated during the Spring Meeting 1994. The area is comparably rich in species. The Cladonia flora in the heathland areas is still rather diverse. The parasites Psammina stipitata and Didymella sphinctrinoides var. lithoeciae are reported for the first time and Parmelia reticulata was found for the second time in the Netherlands.
Cladonia luteoalba nieuw voor Nederland
A. Aptroot
58-58

Cladonia luteoalba Wheldon & A. Wilson was found for the first time in the Netherlands in coastal dune areas. It was the first addition to the Cladonia flora found since 1980. The autotrophic versus parasitic growth form of the species is discussed.
Nieuw voor Nederland: Rinodina confragosa
S. Bakker
59-60

Rinodina confragosa (Ach) Körber was found for the first time in the Netherlands on a Hunebed.
Bacidia myrtillicola Erichsen ook in Nederland
J.L. Spier
61-62

For the first time Bacidia myrtillicola Erichs. is found in the Netherlands in the Treek near Amersfoort. The author does not agree with the opinion of some foreign authors (Poelt, Türk, Vezda.) that B. myrtillicola and Fellhanera subtilis, also recently found, are synonymous.
